Arts for the Earth™

Arts for the Earth™ will reach out to arts communities worldwide – museums, performing arts, spoken art, film and architecture institutes – to participate in the 40 th anniversary of Earth Day. Arts for the Earth™ will invite artists in multiple disciplines to create works of art to be publicly displayed or performed for Earth Day 2010. The program will nurture museum sustainability and encourage sustainable themes and practices in contemporary art and give awards for notable environmental art projects and awards for commitments by art institutions.

Awards will be given for outstanding contribution to raising environmental awareness through art; outstanding institutional commitment to sustainable arts facilities and outstanding works of art related to the environment. Check back for more details.

Earth Day Network is inviting artists and government leaders to:

• Declare an environmental awareness month in April to correspond to the 40 th Anniversary of Earth Day
• Hold events and fundraisers that would reach out to their art patrons to help support the Arts for the Earth™ Project
• Include Arts for the Earth™ information on their websites
• Decorate their concert halls, opera houses, and educational centers to celebrate Earth Day
• Dedicate special performances during the Earth Day 40 awareness month
