Athletes are role models, especially for young people, and in the upcoming Olympic year all eyes will be on the world’s athletes as they interact with their environment. Earth Day Network will involve athletes world wide as spokespeople for Earth Day and also create awareness at global athletic events leading up to Earth Day. Beginning with the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, where Earth Day Network will host a welcome center, Athletes for the Earth will harness the voices of athletes to address climate change. The program will also illustrate the interaction of athletes with their environment and connect popular athletic activities with environmental stewardship.
Athletes for the Earth will be coming to a radio station near you, as Earth Day Network engages athletes in all activities to record public service announcements (PSA’s) for radio stations globally. We will also be featuring many of your favorite athletes here on our website and at our Earth Day 2010 40th anniversary events in cities like Washington D.C., London, Mumbai and Sydney.
