Earth Day Network Engages Artists to Inspire Change for the Planet
Art, whether it is on an easel or in the precise movements of a dancer, evokes emotions and inspires the masses. For the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, Earth Day Network has begun a new initiative called “Arts for the Earth” which leverages the power of art to educate, raise awareness and motivate people to action. Our collaboration with a myriad of artists, arts and cultural institutions seeks to harness that emotional power to inspire action, contribute to the environmental movement and raise awareness about climate change.
One of the major goals of the Arts for the Earth program is to reach out on a grass-roots level to underserved communities that are some of the hardest hit by air and water pollution and urban degradation. We are working with grass-roots arts organizations, such as “Animating Democracy” and with local and state art commissions and schools that have outreach programs. This collaboration will integrate environmental art programming into existing efforts.
Earth Day Network is also collaborating with some of the world’s leading environmental artists—stay tuned for exciting news about their amazing works of art.
