Barbie influences millions of girls around the world, allowing them to explore the wealth of professions available and accessible to women today. This is not only an opportunity to inform young women about the possibilities in pursuing careers in environmental science and technology, but also sends a positive message about the expansion and awareness of the protection and preservation of the Earth. Environmentalism is starting to permeate all quadrants of society from green athletes to food production to consumer goods. Earth Day 2010 is galvanizing this movement, and encourages young men and women around the world to take action in their communities. Even something as small as promoting green jobs through our favorite “toy” role models- every small step counts.
