If you haven’t heard by now, you may want to check out the New York Times/Greenwire article announcing Deryck Spooner’s move from the Nature Conservancy to the American Petroleum Institute. Considered a “big dog” in the grassroots community, Spooner’s move to API means the company is taking grassroots strategy and activism to a serious level. Last year API’s controversial grassroots activism (aimed at encouraging employees to attend rallies to kill climate legislation) has left the environmental community nervous about this move.
